    There is case for working out with magnetic weights while facing north. Because they would be attracted to the North Pole, the act of putting them down may take almost as much strength as lifting them in them first place. Therefore the person who is working out with them will be getting twice as much exercise. of course this obviously depends on the strength of the magnets. But given that weights are very large blocks of iron, it should not be difficult magnetizing them and getting this effect.
